How we Review Offshore Casinos
GambleGuys is an independent review site for offshore online casinos — operators licensed in Curaçao, Malta (MGA), Anjouan, or comparable jurisdictions rather than by a player’s national monopoly regulator. Our readers come to us for the same reasons wherever they are: fast withdrawals, crypto payments, generous bonuses, and low verification friction. That includes UK players looking for casinos not on GAMSTOP, and players across our international audience who want a reliable, honest guide to operators outside their home framework.
On this methodology page, we explain, transparently, how our reviews are produced, which criteria we weight, and who stands behind each review.
We believe players who deliberately choose to play outside their national regulator’s framework deserve an honest, detailed, and consistently applied evaluation — not generic marketing copy.
This methodology is reviewed and updated quarterly.
Methodology: Our review criteria
Every casino we recommend is assessed against eight criteria. Each carries a defined weighting in the overall score.
We weight licence verification most heavily (20%): we check that an active licence exists with the issuing regulator (Curaçao GCB, MGA, Anjouan, or another), that the operator appears in the public register, and whether there is any sanction history.
Almost as important is withdrawal speed (18%) — the actual measured time between a withdrawal request and the funds arriving, which we test monthly.Next come the bonus terms (15%): wagering requirements, maximum bet during bonus play, minimum deposit, withdrawal caps, and game weighting, each assessed for transparency and fairness.
We judge the game library and providers (12%) on the number and quality of game studios (Pragmatic, NetEnt, Hacksaw, Evolution, and others), live-casino availability, and slot variety.
Payment methods (10%) are rated on the availability of crypto and classic options (cards, e-wallets, bank transfer) alongside deposit and withdrawal limits. Crypto availability matters especially where local payment rails are limited.
Customer support (10%) is judged on availability (24/7?), live-chat response time, English-language quality, and the depth of the answers given.
The final two criteria are T&C readability (8%) — the clarity of bonus terms, fair withdrawal restrictions, and the absence of buried clauses — and complaint history (7%), for which we review publicly documented player complaints on AskGamblers, ThePogg, CasinoMeister, and comparable independent platforms.
How we verify licences
Part of our methodology is verifying every licence claim directly with the issuing regulator:
- Curaçao licences are checked against the public register of the Curaçao Gaming Control Board (gcb.cw). We record the licence number and expiry date, and re-verify every six months that the licence is still active.
- MGA licences (Malta Gaming Authority) are checked through the official MGA register (mga.org.mt). Past sanctions are publicly listed there and are factored into our scoring.
- Anjouan licences are checked through the official licence database of the Anjouan Offshore Finance Authority.
If an operator claims a licence we cannot verify, it is not included — regardless of how attractive the rest of the offer would be.
How we test withdrawals
For every recommended casino, we run a hands-on withdrawal test each month:
- We deposit a minimum amount (typically £/€50–£/€100 or the local/crypto equivalent).
- We play through the bonus or a portion of the balance.
- We request a withdrawal of at least the equivalent of £/€50 — tested separately for crypto and for classic payment methods where available.
- We record the time from withdrawal request to funds actually received.
Who writes our reviews?
Every review is written and signed off by a named, real-person reviewer who has personally tested the operator.

We do not use stock photographs, AI-generated profiles, or pseudonymous authors. Every person on our author page is a real human who has personally written or signed off on the reviews bylined under their name.
How often we update reviews
- Individual operator reviews: every six months, or immediately on material changes (licence changes, bonus changes, significant T&C revisions, documented player complaints).
- Toplist pages (e.g. Non-GamStop Casinos, Best crypto casinos, per-country hubs): monthly. The ranking is recomputed from current withdrawal, bonus, and complaint data.
- This methodology page: quarterly. Material changes are recorded in the changelog at the bottom of the page.
How we handle affiliate commissions
GambleGuys is funded by affiliate commissions — when you open a casino account through a link on our site, we receive a commission from the operator. Critically, these commissions do not influence our reviews.
In practice:
- The review criteria (above) are applied before we consider any affiliate agreement.
- Operators that pay us higher commissions do not automatically rank higher in our toplists.
- Operators that fail to meet our minimum score are not included — even if they would pay an attractive commission.
Our full Affiliate Disclosure explains the compensation structure in detail.
What we cannot promise?
Online gambling is a risky activity, and our reviews cannot guarantee certain things:
- Game outcomes. We review casinos, not game results. House edges and RTP values for individual games are set by the game provider, not by the casino or by us.
- Completeness. We test casinos as thoroughly as we can, but cannot cover every edge case or individual experience.
- Legal advice. The legal status of offshore play varies by jurisdiction. Players should seek legal advice where appropriate.
- System-level player protection. Offshore casinos are not connected to national self-exclusion schemes such as GAMSTOP (UK) or OASIS (Germany). Player protection sits with you — set your own deposit and time limits. UK players can use BeGambleAware (0808 8020 133) and GamCare; players elsewhere should use the responsible-gambling resources available in their own country.
