Play Craps Online

Craps is one of the all-time classics of the casino landscape. If you have ever set foot inside a casino, then you will be familiar with the sheer thrill involved when you play craps for real money: banding around the table with your fellow players, choosing where to place your bets and then sampling the tension as you hope that the next roll of the dice turns up your lucky number. Craps is also a game that has adapted remarkably well to the world of online casinos. The layout of a craps table is tailor-made to be reworked into the screen of an online game, and the core gameplay of buying chips and choosing where to position them is something that can easily be replicated in virtual form.

If you have never tried your hand at a game of craps before, however, you may still find yourself bewildered when you load up the game and see the table on the screen before you. What are the different types of bets? What are the winning and losing numbers? Is your chosen variation on the craps game really the best-suited one, or should you go scouring online casinos for an alternative? Well, once you have read our article, you should have picked up a clear idea of how to play craps online.

How To Play Real Money Craps

To start with, playing craps online allows you to avoid one of the most aggravating aspects of playing the game at a brick-and-mortar casino: waiting for the dealer to turn over the on/off tag so that the game can begin. Instead, you will be able to jump straight in.

Your first move will be to buy virtual chips; how many you choose to buy will be down to you. It will be a good idea to buy enough to improve your chances, but not to lose control and spend all of your money on a single game! After this, your task will be to choose where to place your chips. You can put a chip on the pass line, which means that you are betting on whoever is rolling the dice.

This brings us to the most iconic aspect of a craps game: the dice. If you have placed a bet on the pass line and the roller scores 7 or 11 with their first roll, then you will win. If the first roll is a 2 (“snake eyes”), a 3 or a 12, then you will have lost. The other possible numbers are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10; these are called the point numbers, and each of them has a square on the craps table. If the dice land on one of these numbers, then the corresponding square will be marked or highlighted and the roller will keep on rolling until they score the same number again. If they score that point number before they roll a 7, this constitutes a win for the player.

So, this is what will unfold if you choose to simply place your chip on the pass line. However, there are other ways to play. If you so choose, you can “take odds”: this involves placing one chip on the pass line, and a stack of chips below it. The additional chips will multiply the stake. How many you can put in play, and how many times you can multiply the stakes, will depend on the casino. For example, some might allow you to choose between 3x, 4x and 5x when taking odds; others will have larger or smaller limits in play.

Next, there is the “come” bet. This is an alternative to the pass line and signified by an area on the table that reads “come.” The difference between the two is that, while a bet on the pass line is a bet on the first number rolled by the dice, a come bet is a bet on the second number to be rolled. If that number is 7 or 11, you will win.

Still another option is to place a bet on the “don’t pass” bar, which is typically above the pass line. If you do so, then the numbers 2 and 3 — losing numbers on a pass bet — will be your winning numbers; a roll of 12, on the other hand, will result in a tie. If any other number turns up on the roll, then your bet will pay off should that number be rolled after a 7.

At any point in a game of craps, you will be able to try to place bets on the point numbers; you will also be able to remove your bets if you choose, and you can place as many bets as you currently have chips. The value of your bet is flexible, likewise depending on how many chips you currently own. If you place a bet on a number, then you will win should that number be rolled during the game.

Still another way of betting in a game of craps concerns an area of the table called the “field,” This is typically located below the Come bar and above the don’t-pass bar and bears the numbers 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12. If you place a bet on the field, then you are betting that one of those numbers will come up on the very next roll of the dice. Once again, you can choose how many chips to put in play and, consequently, how much money is at stake. If the number rolled is a 2 or a 12, then you will win double your bet; the other numbers in the field will earn you even money.

Moving on, we find the proposition bets, which can earn you big winnings if you are lucky enough to score with one. First are the four “hard ways” which allow you to bet on the dice showing duplicate numbers between 2 and 5. The next four proposition bets are the so-called horn bets. Here, you will be betting on the specific numbers 2, 3, 11 or 12 (or a combination of them) for a single roll. The next proposition bet is the “any craps” bet; this is a bet that the very next number rolled will be 2, 3 or 12. Surrounding these betting areas on the table are the letters C and E, which are also potential homes for your chips: a C is the aforementioned “any craps” and an E is a bet that the next number rolled will be 11; since each letter has multiple circles you will be able to put a number of chips on the same bet if you so choose. Each C or E bet is good for one roll only. Finally, there is the “any seven” bet, often nicknamed the “big red”. Quite simply, this is a bet that the next roll of the dice will be a number 7 — a longshot, but one that will pay off well.

What Are The Best Casinos to Play Craps Online?

If an online casino deals in table games at all, then it will almost certainly include at least one version of craps. Amongst the casinos that we can recommend to players hoping to play craps online are Rollbit Casino, Tsars Casino, All Slots Casino and Playzee Casino.

Of course, once you have chosen which casino to visit, you may find yourself faced with different versions of craps. There are two basic distinctions where the game is concerned. One is whether or not the game is live: in a non-live game, you will be merely playing alongside the computer, while in the live version you will have an actual dealer and perhaps also other players to compete alongside. The other distinction is whether or not the version you are playing is real money craps. As with all games that are based purely around chance, a version of craps that lacks the element of gambling real money is a version that lacks most of its appeal; consequently, the non-paying forms of craps are typically presented as demo versions. These will be suited to players who are new to the game and would like to get to grips with the rules before they start wagering their hard-earned money.

While these are the main distinctions between different versions of craps, if you play around you will find that different providers tend to apply their own tweaks to the game. Most of the differences will be cosmetic, of course. Sometimes when you play craps online you will have a flat, unadorned board; other times you will be playing on a 3D board complete with animated features. A lot of people will prefer flashier versions, but if you have chosen to play craps for real money, then you may find simplicity to be a comforting attribute.
